Raiders Encounter Christ

Raiders Encounter Christ (REC) is going to be a class in the 2018-2019 school year taught by Ms. Timmermeyer. She said that it is a class for kids to grow deeper in their faith and she is most excited to see students grow closer to God. Anyone can join REC, so consider joining next year!

Battle of the Books
NJHS

National Junior Honor Society is a group of middle school students that serve our community. They are considered the leaders of our school.  Membership in NJHS is by invitation only. Seventh grade students are invited to apply if they have a combined GPA of 3.75 or higher. An induction Mass and ceremony are usually held in February of each year.   An application must be filled out and acceptance is through a voting process involving St. Thomas Aquinas middle school faculty.

Scholars Bowl

Battle of the Books (BOB) is a voluntary reading program for 5th and 6th graders.  The purpose is to encourage students to read good books and have fun while competing with students from other schools.  The schools in our division are Blessed Sacrament, Magdalen, and Resurrection.  Generally three teams of five students attend the competitions.  There are three competitions which begin in March and are spaced every other week. The competitions take place after school.  A student participates by reading from the book list provided for that year’s Battle of the Books.  The school library will have a copy of each book on the list.  However, we require every student who is on a team to buy one book to share with the other students.  Every student is required to read at least ten books from the list
